Plants Of Andalucía

With Andalucía being much further south than the UK, spring was well advanced when we visited and there were many more flowers blooming, bright spots of colour amidst the green.

A few species of plant I recognised, or at least the families they came from, but many I have never seen before. I keep meaning to find a book on Spanish flora, but it still remains on my ‘to do’ list!

So if anyone knows what species these are, please let me know in the comments :-)

Bermuda Buttercup (Oxalis pes-caprae)

Lesser Celandine (Ranunculus ficaria)

Fumitory (Fumaria sp.)

Crocus-leaved Romulea (Romulea bulbocodium)

Wild Sage (Salvia verbenaca)

Knapweed (Centaurea sp.)

Lavender (Lavandula stoechas

Asphodel (Asphodelus sp.)

Agave (Agave sp.)

      Hi Sophie – thank you very much! I’ll have a look through books now and familiarise myself with them :-)

    Hi!
    The following website could potentially help: http://andaluciaflowers.blogspot.co.uk/.

    This said, in my opinion; from top to bottom:

    Oxalis pes-caprae;
    Glebionis (= Chrysanthemum) segetum;
    Fumaria sp.; and
    Asphodelus albus (last one, after lavender).

      Hi Richard, thanks for the link to the website. Hoping to get out there again this year so I need to learn names!
